Thirties (1/2), moved to England and all about Volleyball

Swim, bike, run

In March 2003, I moved to England. I didn’t swim. I didn’t ride a bike. And I didn’t run.

But I’ve played lots of Volleyball. Berkshire League, London League, National League. Indoor and Outdoor Volleyball, Beach Volleyball, you name it! I’ve been pretty much everywhere in England where you can find a Volleyball court, even in prisons!

We won the Berkshire League with Maidenhead VC a couple of time, won lots of tournaments with Maidenhead VC and a made up ‘Vavavoom’ team, got promoted to the top league (NV1) with Thames Valley.

But my proudest moment was when we won the two aside tournament in Brighton (Adur) with one of my friends, and I won the King of the Beach trophy (second division) in Croyde, Devon.

Ski

2005 was by far my most intense year of skiing. I’ve spent a week with some friends in Chamonix, and I’m not sure how we survived. We were partying a lot and skiing like mad. We took on the Valley Blanche challenge, an off-piste going through the crevasse. The only thing we couldn’t do that week due to bad weather was a helicopter drop off in Italy for a unique off-piste skiing experience.

I also decided to get a pair of slalom ski. And OMG, they are fast. On one of my rare fall, I was lucky to hit a rock with my legs rather than my head. Otherwise, I might be in the same state as Schumacher, or worse as I don’t wear helmets.
