Triathlon formats

There is a sentence about triathlon I’ve seen around, and like a lot:

Triathlete – a person who doesn’t understand that one sport is hard enough.

So, triathlon not one sport, but three. And, to make it easier, each of the distance varies. On top of that, the swim can take place in a pool or open water (lake, sea, ocean). Finally, there are differences between countries and naming. Below is a guide to help you out.
