Blenheim Palace triathlon review

Blenheim Palace triathlon review
April 15 12:23 2016

Year attended: 2015

Venue
The triathlon takes place in Blenheim Palace gardens. The site is stunning, although the weather wasn’t at its best when I competed. The transition area is in the palace’s courtyard, which make it very special and unique.

Organisation
The registration was simple and online, but as it’s hugely popular, I would advise expressing your interest as early as possible. The car park is free, but spectators have to pay, which is a big turn off. After passing the registration gazebo, you will pass a the triathlon village where you will find enough food, drinks, and gear stands. The transition area is a little bit further, closed and secured.

Race
The lake temperature at the time of the year is cold, and a wetsuit is mandatory. And it feels clean. On the swim exit, you will have to work hard as the run take you uphill to the transition area. The bike ride goes around the palace on a closed road, which makes it safe. Finally, the run goes around the lake, which is very nice.

Value for money
I would say it’s a must do triathlon, and could be the perfect one if some effort was put towards the spectators.
