Venue What’s better than competing in one of London 2012 Olympic venue?
Organization The registration was online and simple. You have to take a little walk between the car park and the registration and transition area, so allow yourself some time if you don’t want to rush. The triathlon village is very nice with lots of free food (bananas, bars, hot dogs, hamburgers) from Lidl. And is very family friendly with a donation fee face painting and Scootathlon.
Race At this time of the year, the wetsuit isn’t mandatory. You can’t see much when swimming in the lake, which is usual, but it feels clean. The transition is very short. The bike route takes you around the lake, in probably the flattest triathlon race in the country! However, you might face strong winds on either side. I feel the run could be better as you go up along the lake, turn and go down again on the narrow path.
Value for money Free parking and food, no spectator entry fees, lovely venue, and average entry fees. On top of that, the Lidl prizes hampers are great.
A perfect event for beginners and fun day out for families
