My Triathlon debut

I remember my colleague at work always talking about triathlons, and telling me I should give it a go. She tried to drag me into races on numerous occasion, but I always had an escape as my weekends were always booked. One day, I couldn’t escape, it was mid-week, and opposite our workplace. It was an aquathlon. What she didn’t mention is that the start was at 6 am in the swimming pool. Regardless, I’ve managed to be on time, swim – breaststroke at the time – followed by a slow 5 k around a lake. I’m not sure if I enjoyed the race or the free breakfast most …

As I pretty much quit tennis for volleyball earlier on in my life, I thought I would go back to tennis when quitting volleyball, which I did. I joined a local club in St Albans, where my biggest achievement was to win the Club Plate Tournament. I was officially the best of the losers!

Horse riding

My girlfriend – wife now – having a horse, and despite finding them scary, I’ve ridden a couple of times. I fell twice. It hurts. but got back on. I’ve experienced the naughtiness of a horse wanting to counter while I’ve only asked him to trot.

Despite not being my cup of tea, as on contrary of my bike or ski, as I don’t have the full control, I’ve enjoyed riding in Argentina, Camargue (France), England. And experienced polo too on a stallion.

I’m still trying to go as often as I can.
